I really wanted to love this book. Unfortunately I did not LOVE it, but it had some very redeeming qualities. Min's voice was a bit annoying to me, I'm not sure why. Maybe it was her naivety, probably just because I heard so much of myself at that age in her voice. Regardless of that the voice was so genuine. The first three fourths of the book were underwhelming, but the last quarter made up for it, not enough to persuade me to give it 4 stars, but almost. I was heart broken for Min when she was heart broken. I was glad to see how she handled it with the help of her friends and whatnot. It was a nice ending. The illustrations were fantastic, understated, simple, but so lovely. They make me want to go and paint, right now.
