If you take a lesser version of The Time Traveler's Wife add teenagers and secret government agencies, you would get something that highly resembled Julie Cross's debut novel Tempest. I had high expectations for this book since the synopsis reminded me so much of The Time Traveler's Wife. Even without the comparison the novel would have let me down. It was exciting at first, but it became slightly repetitive and predictable. I am curious of how the book may have played out if it were a stand alone novel instead of the first in a series. I will never know, but I think I may have enjoyed it. Overall this book was not bad, just average and below my expectations. If you like Young Adult fiction, romance, time travel, and espionage you might like Tempest.
